Established in Righteousness (Part 1)

Isaiah 54:14 In righteousness shalt thou be established: thou shalt be far from oppression; for thou shalt not fear: and from terror; for it shall not come near thee.

Righteous: Just; it denotes one who is holy in heart, and observant of the divine commands in practice.

The blessings of being righteous are evident throughout Scripture. A few of the blessings would be a more abundant life, righteousness, and honour.

Proverbs 21:21 He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.

Boldness/zeal is also a guarantee for the righteous.

Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no man pursueth: but the righteous are bold as a lion.

These four blessings alone would be enough to desire righteousness. However, righteousness is not obtained through self. In fact, not a single person is righteous in themselves.

Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

How can we who are not righteous, be established in righteousness? We must first be justified. Justified means, to be declared righteous. We who are not righteous need to be declared righteous. Justification takes place at salvation.

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

We are declared righteous through Jesus Christ. Through Him we are righteous.

Isaiah 45:24 Surely, shall one say, in the Lord have I righteousness and strength:

Being declared righteous through Jesus is great, but it doesn't stop there. Christ moves in to those who are justified, which means we aren't just declared righteous, we are MADE righteous. This is extra special and we will take a look at that in the next post or two. For now, be sure you have accepted Jesus as your Saviour so that you are righteous. If you have done that, go forward in the righteousness of God and rejoice in the blessings of being righteous.
