Thanksgiving

My favorite holiday has got to be thanksgiving. Any day filled with football, food, and family is going to be good. However, the ultimate reason for the holiday should be expressed every day, in every circumstance. That reason being thankfulness.

The Word of God is clear, we are to give thanks in every situation. It is the will of God.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

In a year that has been anything but normal, a time of thanksgiving is something we could all use. Expressing our gratitude to our Lord is important and shouldn’t be saved for one day of the year.

We are encouraged to enter the presence of God with thanksgiving.

Psalm 100:4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

Spend time every day thanking God for who He is and His rich blessings. Thank Him for what the hard times have taught you, for some lessons, and truths, only become real in the valleys.

How long can we go thanking God for things in prayer, before we ask Him for something?

What if we woke up with only what we thanked God for yesterday?

Are we humbly grateful or “grumbly” hateful?

Are we content with God's necessities?

1 Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.

Let’s be thankful and express it to our Saviour. What are you thankful for today?

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
